Braden Oliver Kelly

Braden Oliver Kelly was born and raised in Sydney, Australia to parents, Jennifer and Oliver (the family apparently descendents from Ned Kelly himself), hoteliers who own a swanky five star hotel on Sydney Harbour with views of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The family lived in the expensive eastern Sydney suburb of Vaucluse on Sydney Harbour and because of this, Braden was pretty much raised loving the sea and the beach. His parents were both surfers as teenagers, and that was how they met and fell in love, and Braden was conceived one night on a beach by a fire, though he's bloody glad they never told him what one. He was taught to surf from a very young age, just like his older sister, Chloe, who went on to the pro surfing league and soon became an international success when she lived to be on a board. Going pro was never Braden's wish, and instead he pursued his love of drama and scored a place at Sydney's well-known arts university, NIDA (National Academy of Dramatic Arts).

What his family didn't know was that when Braden was just 17 years old, for a laugh, he applied for a position as a stripper in a gay bar using a fake ID. There was no doubt he was gay and or had a decent tanned body from his many years of surfing. Turns out, he was pretty good at it too, and a hit with the gay scene. That year, he was even a lead dancer on a gay pride float at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and it was also the year he met young American, Gavin Lawson, who was in Sydney for a holiday with his mother. Gavin paid Braden a hell of a lot of cash after Braden gave him an impromptu lap dance, and after he finished his shift for the night, Gavin was waiting for him out the back of the bar. It was a hot and heavy one night stand in a hotel room, and when Gavin woke up the next morning, Braden was gone. Gavin tried to go back to the bar a couple of nights later, only to be told Braden had quit his job and they couldn't give him any forwarding information due to confidentiality. Gavin returned to New York, thinking he would never see Braden again.

The reason Braden threw in the towel with the job was because once it had turned personal leading to a sexual encounter, it was no longer fun. He went back to his life of surfing, hanging out with friends and going to university. Having the extroverted personality that he did, Braden excelled in drama at school and always wanted to be an actor. It was the summer after graduation from NIDA that Braden happened to be at Bondi Beach with a large group of friends for a birthday celebration he was approached by a television agent, who said he had the right look for a new Australian soap opera who were looking for main characters on the show. The rest was history. The soap opera, Surfside Bay took off and Braden became every bit the teenage pin-up, playing character Jackson Harper, and he was in the role for five years before he started to get bored with it and itchy feet for something more than a mere soap opera.

That was when Braden decided to audition for a New York hospital drama - NYMD - that was set to start filming at the start of the summer in 2013. He took a trip to New York, auditioned, and the producers were so enamoured with his look and his accent that they created a role for him as an Australia surgeon on the show, and whilst he was there, Braden signed with PR company, Lewis & Co, to manage the launch of his international career in America. He was supposed to be managed by Aiden Lewis, until Aiden showed the footage of Braden in the Aussie soap to his team, and his 2IC - one Gavin Lawson - saw it and talked Aiden in to letting him go to Australia to help Braden tie up the loose ends of his departure from the soap opera and move to New York.

As soon as they met in the bar of his parents' hotel to discuss his PR strategy, Braden knew who it was. Business had to wait, because they went straight up to a room and had marathon sex on and off for about three days. Gavin was determined not to let Braden go again, but he knew Braden had a bit of a reputation as quite the player. He challenged Braden with a whirlwind marriage proposal on a luxury cruise of Sydney Harbour, telling him they could get married when they got back to New York, and Braden accepted without really thinking it through. When they arrived in New York, they had a quickie and covet marriage ceremony before Braden was due to kick off a hectic promotion schedule for the new show.

In a slight twist of events, it was during medical checks for his Green Card and employment in America that soon revealed that Braden had a very low sperm count and his chances of ever conceiving were slim to nothing. It was a shock, and he hasn't told anyone yet. He had always assumed he would one day have a family of his own, but when the news came he was too busy to dwell and it's inevitably a blow that's going to hit him hard sooner rather than later, and especially now he's found himself married and in a committed relationship.
